Register your interest in any of the following:
Full Course: TAE40116 Cert IV Training & Assessment (Aug 17- Feb/Mar 18)
Upgrade: From existing TAE40110 to new TAE40116 qualification
Upskill: Upskill existing TAE40110 Cert IV Training & Assessment qualification to meet new revised RTO standards before April 2019 for qualification to remain current.
Qualification & Recognition:
The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is granted on the successful completion of 10 units of competency being 9 core and 1 elective (elective unit chosen must be relevant to the work outcome and meet local industry needs), and the full payment of course fees.
This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector.
This qualification (or the skill sets derived from units of competency within it) is also suitable preparation for those engaged in the delivery of training and assessment of competence in a workplace context, as a component of a structured VET program.
Achievement of this qualification by trainers is a requirement of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015.
Those entering this program must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessing area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification.
A pre-training interview will be conducted on all prospective candidates to gain information on vocational competency and industry experience as well as ensuring required Language, Literacy and Numeracy levels appropriate to this course.
Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer:
Students may be able to shorten the length of their chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by another Registered training organisation will be recognised by SGAE.
Assessment is based on competency, which is the ability to demonstrate specific skills and knowledge, with a combination of observation, discussion, written assessment tasks, work and class related projects.
Students will learn to:
- plan assessment activities and processes
- create assessment tools
- participate in assessment validation
- plan, organise and deliver group based learning
- use training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs
- identify language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) requirements in training and assessment
The following employment pathways are available to candidates who complete this qualification:
- Enterprise trainer/or assessor
- Registered Training Organisation (RTO) trainer and/or assessor
- Training advisor or training needs analyst
- Vocational Education (VET) teacher
Changes to Training & Assessment Qualification:
The new qualification TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment has been deemed not equivalent to the superseded qualification TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.
The revised training package includes changes to the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment which introduces higher standards for trainers and assessors across the vocational education and training (VET) workforce.
