Short Courses

SGAE offers a variety of short courses to cater to the Southern Grampians community. Whether your motivation be self growth through learning new technologies, languages, dance or skills requirements for your vocation, our courses provide you with the foundation you require in a sociable yet structured environment. 

We consider ourselves extremely lucky to have such dedicated trainers, commited to sharing their individual passion with our students.

 

Beginners Computing

This course is for new computer users and is deisgned to provide you with the necessary skills to perform everyday tasks confidently.

Intermediate Computing

This course is for those who have some computer experience and would like to broaden their skills.

Microsoft Excel

Join in this short course and gain confidence in creating and formatting spreadsheets. Training will focus on formulas, functions, data manipulation and graphs.

Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)

If your job requires you to sell or serve alcohol in Victoria it is mandatory for your to complete the Victorian Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate.

SITXFSA001 Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety

Suitable for people involved in food preparation. It is essential for all people who work with food production in the Hospitality, Retail, Food processing and Health sectors.

Introduction to iPads

These practical classes are designed to help you get the best from your iPad, making the most of the many features available including downloading apps, taking photos, emails, searching, calendars, settings etc.

Digital SLR Photography

A picture says a thousand words …  Would you like to take a good photo with your SLR camera? This course provides you with an understanding of digital photography; what makes a good image; composition and photographic concepts; exploring potential photographic opportunities; lighting exposure and techniques; the potential of digital display and printing options.  You will also learn how to upload photos to the computer and edit images.

Introduction to AUSLAN (Sign Language)

The short course is designed to promote simple communication with signing Deaf people.

Successful completion will give you a base from which you may expand your vocabulary and knowledge and proceed to more formal study of Auslan.

Introduction to Espresso coffee

DATES:  Tuesday 6 February

TIME:  6:00pm – 9:00pm

DURATION:  1 x 3 hour session

COST: $110

LOCATION: The Roxburgh

Held in conjunction with Roxburgh House Café, this course is ideal for anyone wanting to develop skills and knowledge in making espresso coffee for personal development and/or employment opportunities. Participants will develop a basic understanding of the coffee experience including extraction, history of coffee and milk texturing.

This training is interactive with hands-on experience using a commercial coffee machine.

 

Enrolment and Fees:  All enrolments must be confirmed by payment of fees.  Fees will be refunded in full if SGAE cancels a course due to insufficient numbers.  If a student cancels within 3 days of course commencing, a 10% administration fee will be charged.  No fees will be refunded once classes commence.

The student tuition fees as published are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment.
